In 1924, two Belgian industrialists, Armand Desaegher and Octave Aubecq met at the Brussels Fair. They decided to create a foundry which would enamel various cookware items, and in 1925, Le Creuset was born. That same year, the first French oven, was produced, laying the foundation for what is now an extensive range of cookware and kitchen utensils.

Desaegher and Aubecq modeled the first colour after the bright orange of molten cast iron inside a cauldron (“creuset” in French), therefore Le Creuset's signature colour, Flame, was born.

After the 2nd World War, contrary to its competitors, Le Creuset concentrated on its range of enamelled cast iron cookware and was a major innovator of the time with new and exciting styles and pieces. In 1952, export to other countries had really begun with greater volume of products destined to other European countries and the United States.
